Peconic Bay Zonta collaborates with Mayan Hands, a fair-trade organization that supports Mayan women artisans in Guatemala. Liala Strotman is our point person for this continuing activity.
During our recent cooking class-fundraiser, guests were invited to Liala's front porch for a sale of Mayan Hands goods. The event took place just days later, with everyone wearing masks, maintaining safe distances from each other and using hand sanitizers.
We are pleased to report that we sold nearly $500 of assorted items, including lovely hand-woven baskets, scarves, jackets, table runners and purses, plus whimsical felted animals and key chains.
