Saying NO to Violence Against Women

Think about a world in which women's rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential.

A world in which women have access to all resources and are represented in decision-making positions on an equal basis with men.

A world in which no woman lives in fear of violence.

To make this world a reality, Zonta and other like-minded organizations engage in advocacy and service projects year round to support women and children.

Peconic Bay member Mona Rowe was on a road trip this summer, passing through Nevada. She spotted a thrift shop (below) in Carson City, noticed the sign Advocates to End Domestic Violence, and stopped to talk to these folks.

She learned about the organization's comprehensive services, including 24/7/365 crisis and texting lines, a shelter, counseling support groups, and court advocates.

On November 25, Zonta International observes the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
