A new Zonta year has begun: June 2012 through May 2013.
Peconic Bay Zonta starts the year flush with dollars earned from our yard sale on May 26, at Mary Ann Miller's home in Hampton Bays. Pictured are satisfied customers -- two young men delighted with their purchase of wickers chairs, donated by former Zontian Janet Schlock, and a young father who eagerly scooped up a food processor, donated by Peconic Bay member Kathy Walker.
Thank you to Mary Ann's sister, Claire, who made a selection of homemade breads to sell. They were wrapped in colorful ribbons -- yellow for lemon and poppy seeds, orange for carrot and coconut, green for zucchini, and gold for banana and chocolate. Yum! Few could resist!
At the end of the day, the yard sale brought in enough money to meet our goals for this new Zonta year:
- A scholarship for a female student enrolled in the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program at Suffolk County Community College in Riverhead
- A contribution to the Zonta Foundation, earmarked for the Amelia Earhart Fellowship

Best to Peconic Bay members and kudos to all of the ladies "down east" for setting great goals and meeting them handily.
