Wo/Man Empower Wo/Men

On May 22, 2022, four members of Peconic Bay Zonta and one guest attended the Wo/Man Empower Wo/Men Event, sponsored by The Butterfly Effect Project (BEP). Pictured from left: Annika Shapiro, Vivian Dadino, Geri Kazenoff with her granddaughter Becca Rosenzweig, and Betsy Kaplan.

Through this annual event, BEP honors the ordinary people in the community who are doing extraordinary things to empower women and children. We were pleased to help them celebrate the honorees and their efforts.

Peconic Bay has an established relationship with the Butterfly Girls. We have done workshops for them in past years and are in the early stages of developing others, inspired by UN events that our members attended online during the year.

Note: Becca Rosenzweig participated in a Model United Nations conference in October 2020, serving as one of the secretaries-general. For the conference opening ceremonies, she arranged to have Zonta UN Representative Pamela Morgan speak about Zonta's mission. Read Rosenzweig's full report.
