Zonta International ranks as the largest NGO (non-governmental organization) supporter of UN women's programs. Aware of Zonta’s status with the United Nations, Peconic Bay members wanted to learn more about the UN’s history, its current efforts and its Zonta connection.

Five of our members toured the UN on May 22, 2023. Our very knowledgeable UN guide talked about the organization’s inception and described some of its peacekeeping and humanitarian programs. Our visit was capped off by a special tour given to us by Justin Loffredo, Supervisor of Broadcast and Conference Support. Justin’s proud mom is Diane Loffredo, a long-standing Zonta member.
After our tours, we had a wonderful meeting with Pat Latona, who serves on the Zonta International United Nations Committee. A member of the Zonta Club of New York, Pat filled us in on the UN initiatives to which Zonta contributes. We also came away with a
