Ireland in March, India in April

For our business meeting on March 10, 2009, Peconic Bay members compared birth rate, infant mortality, fertility rate and literacy stats in Ireland against a sampling of other countries worldwide. We also enjoyed a meal of corned beef and cabbage, Dublin Coddle, Irish soda bread, and Irish coffee.

Thanks to our lively auctioneer, Lori DiDomenico, the evening’s re-gifting event raised over $130 for the club. In exchange, everyone went home with some fun things.

For our April business meeting, our focus will be on India, with a nod to Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire.

Because of Peconic Bay’s service project on April 14, carried out by Mary Ann Miller and Mary Pat Takacs at the Riverhead Free Library, we will meet on April 21 at 6:15 p.m. in Hampton Bays.

Several of us will be reporting at our April meeting:
- April 18 Zonta Area 1 and 2 workshop: Mona Rowe
- April 14 service project: Mary Ann Miller
- February 28 luncheon for the new Zonta International President Beryl Sten: Diane Lenihan

Welcome to Diane L., Peconic Bay’s newest member. She joined in January 2009 and is already very engaged in Zonta activities.
