Appetizers and Crafts: A Successful Fundraiser

In time for the holidays, Peconic Bay Zonta member Annika Shapiro showed a rapt audience of sixteen women how to prepare eight delicious appetizers, ranging from shrimp puffs to Korean meatballs. Everyone enjoyed samples.

As an extra treat, Diane Giardi, education director at East End Arts in Riverhead, demonstrated how to make sweater vases and floral arrangements using carved pumpkins as containers.

Peconic Bay Zonta members Betsy Kaplan and Liala Strotman helped with cooking preparations and cleanup, and the club’s president, Diane Greenberg, gave a short talk about Zonta. The afternoon event was a fun way to raise money for the local Zonta chapter – almost $1,000 after expenses.
