Cheers for Peconic Bay!

At the October 2019 District 3 Centennial Conference, we took third place for the chapter’s “Share Our Story” poster (above), which highlighted our activities with The Butterfly Effect Project. Plus, Peconic Bay’s United Nations achievement report was honored with second place (click on this link to read our UN report).

Here’s the backstory on the poster. It was designed by Alicia Parrott using text written by Diane Greenberg. Alicia started life as Alicia Greenberg. Mom Diane, Peconic Bay Zonta’s president, always displayed a few pieces of Alicia’s early artwork in her office at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Today, Alicia lives in Del Mar, California, with her husband and three "fur babies" – two dogs and a cat. After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Purchase College, Alicia started her career in Manhattan at a Park Avenue advertising agency. She has worked from coast to coast as a designer for over twenty years. Currently, she is a visual designer at Intuit, a Silicon Valley-based technology company whose products include TurboTax.

Alicia’s dedication to artistic expression extends into community involvement. She launched The Rock Project, a public arts program that intertwines visual art, nature and social media as a unique way to unite people throughout the world. In addition, she is glad to volunteer her graphic design skills for Peconic Bay Zonta projects.

Competition is fierce for Zonta honors: District 3 encompasses portions of New York (including New York City and Long Island), all of New Jersey, part of Pennsylvania, and all of Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. The district counts 30 clubs in all.
